The water heater is ignited with the 2 "D" cell batteries, making it available for use off-grid where electricity is not always available. It only ignites when the water is running, so there is no chance of overheating. The ideal operating range for the Eccotemp L7 Portable Tankless Water Heater is 20-80 PSI. This system also works great with modified water systems, such as a 12 volt pump.
